Jack groans and mumbles about nonsense. V flips through some pages in a book.
V
Oh, stop your staring, Mr. Carter. He’s fine. Just a little… entranced for awhile.

JACK
(mumbles)

EMIL
You’re a goddamn criminal.

Someone starts knocking on the door, interrupting them.

V
(calling)Oh! Coming!

The knocking intensifies and Grotti can be heard through the other side

GROTTI
(yelling from behind the door)
V? HEY V! OPEN UP! IT’S ME!

V (overlapping)
(annoyed and yelling back)
Yes! I hear you! I am opening the door!

The door unlocks and opens. Grotti and Ryan shuffle in, the door closing behind them.

V
Well, it’s about time!


RYAN
I found him talking to that... toy again.

(EVERYONE groans, again? How annoying… stupid excuse, ect. Grotti speaks back and forth with STIX)

GROTTI
Let go of me!
(shuffling sounds. He clears his throat)
Look, you got me here, and I ain’t got much choice in stayin’

V
Everyone, hush up! Now that we’re all here--

GROTTI
Wait, who’s this dewdropper?

A chair squeaks as Jack turns, groaning.

V
Jack here is going to be our sound engineer.

RYAN
His eyes…

GROTTI
What’s wrong with him?

RYAN
(continuing)… milky white, and like opalescent glass

V
(shortly)
That’s none of your concern.
(Clapping)
Now everyone, grab your instruments and get into place! We’re short on time, thanks to Grotti’s lollygagging.


Everyone shuffles around, picking up equipment and warming up. V and Ryan harmonize, Grotti joins in loudly, making them stop. V clears their throat.
